在梅雨季將收尾前「[新莊大拜拜](https://www.facebook.com/story.php?story%5Ffbid=1461597086009751&id=100064784194045&mibextid=wwXIfr&rdid=bqU91xQYC8P8CBBj) [Sin-chng Tōa-pài-pài](https://hdl.handle.net/11296/47v4n8?ref=taitokchi.com)」今（14）日登場。每年農曆四月廿九、五月初一，民眾慶祝新莊地藏庵[大眾爺](https://nchdb.boch.gov.tw/assets/overview/folklore/20101012000002?ref=taitokchi.com)聖誕。連續兩天將遶境中港區、新莊區、頭前區；又稱[暗訪](https://tcmb.culture.tw/zh-tw/detail?indexCode=Culture%5FEvent&id=225233&ref=taitokchi.com)、[日巡](https://www.knews.com.tw/news/BA8E81ACCE6442FC066F6A6FF23ED11F?ref=taitokchi.com)。

現在的新莊地區，是比艋舺、大稻埕、台北城[更早發展](https://www.i-media.tw/Article/Detail/16521?ref=taitokchi.com)的地區。十八世紀在此落地生根的移民，無法適應沼澤地形、水土不服。不少人在疾病中死去，屍骨逐漸形成[亂葬崗](https://vocus.cc/article/679de142fd89780001a8c001?ref=taitokchi.com)。1757年（清乾隆廿二年）由[陳謙興](https://j-media.tw/Article/Detail/31017?ref=taitokchi.com)捐地，在墓冢上興建大眾爺廟。也就是現在所稱的「[新莊地藏庵](https://zh.wikipedia.org/zh-tw/%E6%96%B0%E8%8E%8A%E5%9C%B0%E8%97%8F%E5%BA%B5?ref=taitokchi.com)」。是繼[新莊慈祐宮](https://zh.wikipedia.org/zh-tw/%E6%96%B0%E8%8E%8A%E6%85%88%E7%A5%90%E5%AE%AE?ref=taitokchi.com)後另一座在地信仰中心。

文武大眾爺神轎會跟著官將首及其他繞境隊伍，從新莊地藏庵分三批出發遶境。

台灣俗語講：「新莊有三熱：火燒厝、扒龍船、[迎五月初一](https://www.instagram.com/p/DZcJ8rUkZfX/?ref=taitokchi.com)。」大眾爺的聖誕，其實是在[五月初二](https://tcmb.culture.tw/zh-tw/detail?indexCode=Culture%5FEvent&id=225234&ref=taitokchi.com)。但「日巡」人潮洶湧，初一大拜拜反而大力地烙印在新莊人的印象中。文獻中最早記載，遶境源自1910到1912年的[日本時代](https://tcmb.culture.tw/zh-tw/detail?indexCode=BOCH%5FCountryCulture%5F51&id=20101012000002&ref=taitokchi.com)。活動從四月廿九日「暗訪」揭幕，大眾老爺起駕，替[地藏王菩薩](https://www.storm.mg/article/273442?ref=taitokchi.com)巡視地方。
