回顧歷史，有沒有一個稱呼，是不偏向任何族群的中立稱謂呢？回到十六世紀，以葡萄牙語喊出的「[Ilha Formosa](https://talk.ltn.com.tw/article/paper/1551196?ref=taitokchi.com)」也許可以為我們在爭論漢字「台灣人」（[ㄊㄞˊㄨㄢˊㄖㄣˊ](https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/7/7f/NCL-001686009%5F%E8%87%BA%E7%81%A3%E6%9A%AB%E7%94%A8%E5%B0%8F%E5%AD%B8%E5%9C%8B%E8%AA%9E%E8%AA%B2%E6%9C%AC..pdf?ref=taitokchi.com)）的認同之外開闢一條新道路。羅馬字的「[Formosan](https://talk.ltn.com.tw/article/paper/513230?ref=taitokchi.com)」是戒嚴時期前輩們的[自稱](https://talk.ltn.com.tw/article/paper/1312888?ref=taitokchi.com)、並向世界 [hoah-siaⁿ](https://taiwaneseamericanhistory.org/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/81%5F%E6%97%A9%E6%9C%9F1960%E3%80%9C1970%E5%B9%B4%E5%A8%81%E6%96%AF%E5%BA%B7%E6%96%B0%E5%A4%A7%E5%AD%B8-%E5%8F%B0%E7%81%A3%E5%AD%B8%E7%94%9F%E5%9C%A8%E5%8F%B0%E7%81%A3%E5%BB%BA%E5%9C%8B%E9%81%8B%E5%8B%95%E6%89%80%E6%89%AE%E6%BC%94%E7%9A%84%E8%A7%92%E8%89%B2%5F%E9%99%84%E4%BB%B65.jpg?ref=taitokchi.com)（喝聲）的重要符號，Formosan做為[國際通稱](https://talk.ltn.com.tw/article/paper/1326244?ref=taitokchi.com)，我們認為也許會是連接過去與未來的一把鑰匙。做為優勢侵略族群，面對「台灣人」需要面對的轉型正義，也許我們的島嶼也未必要叫「台灣」。
